NFL Investigates Incident Involving Official and Cardinals Trey McBride

The NFL is currently conducting a review following an incident where an official, identified as line judge Jeff Seeman, was allegedly seen using profane language towards Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride. The incident reportedly occurred during a recent game against the New York Giants.
Caught on camera, the interaction between Seeman and McBride has raised concerns, prompting the NFL Players Association executive director JC Tretter to publicly demand accountability. Tretter expressed his concern on X, stating, “This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable. Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard.”
The controversy stirred when McBride was presumably interfered with by Giants’ Dru Phillips in the closing minutes of the game, with no penalty called on the play. Following this, the Cardinals were forced to punt, and the Giants secured the victory 36-24, punctuated by a pick-six from Deonte Banks off an interception from Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
The incident and the NFL’s response are being closely watched as they highlight the expectations of conduct for NFL officials and the accountability mechanisms in place for such situations. The NFL Referees Association has yet to comment on the matter.
